Shipping furniture out of state, one family at a time
Most of the families who call us aren't relocating a household. They're sending a handful of pieces that matter: a hutch, a rocking chair, a bedroom set, a desk. Those pieces are often going to more than one person, in more than one state, and the family member coordinating it all frequently lives far from Florida.
That's the work we do. Senior Assist Shipping is a packing and shipping service, not a moving company: we ship the specific pieces your family chooses, to the people who will keep them. If you're looking for help with furniture shipping within Palm Beach County or a general overview of what we ship, see our main furniture shipping page.
How out-of-state furniture shipping works
- Call us. Tell us what's going, where it's coming from, and which states it's headed to. A rough list is enough to start.
- No-cost meeting. We meet to look at the pieces and talk about what you'd like to accomplish.
- Personalized quote. Based on the pieces, how they need to be packed, the pickup, and each destination.
- Pickup and packing. We pick up from your parent's house, condo, or residence in Palm Beach County and pack each piece for its trip.
- Shipping to each address. Every recipient's furniture goes to their own home, across state lines or across the country. Delivery arrangements are part of our service.
Custom wooden crating for fragile and high-value pieces
A long trip is harder on furniture than a trip across town. For fragile or high-value pieces, such as antiques, glass-front cabinets, mirrors, marble tops, and heirloom clocks, we offer custom wooden crating, built around the piece to protect it in transit. Not every piece needs a crate; many travel well with careful padding and wrapping. Ask us about your specific item, and we'll recommend the right packing for it. For art and antiques, see antique and art shipping and crating.
Sending furniture to several states
Estate furniture rarely goes to just one place. We organize pickup and packing by recipient, so the dining set goes to one sibling, the bedroom set to another, and the cedar chest to a grandchild, each to the right address. A simple list of the piece, recipient, and destination is the best way to start. See shipping to multiple heirs.
Coordinating from another state
Many of the adult children who call us are handling a parent's home from far away. We can start by phone, and you don't need to fly in for the first conversation. Tell us who can give us access to the home for pickup, such as a neighbor, a building manager, a real estate agent, or a family member nearby, and we'll coordinate with you. Our page for out-of-state families explains more.
What to have ready for a quote
- A list of pieces with rough measurements, and photos if you have them.
- The pickup address and any building details, like stairs, elevators, gate access, or condo rules for large pickups.
- Each destination city and state, and who will receive the furniture.
- Any deadline, such as a home closing or lease end.
- Anything especially fragile, valuable, or sentimental, so we can talk about crating or other packing.
Don't have everything yet? Call anyway. Many families start with only a rough idea, and we work out the details together.
Is it worth shipping furniture across the country?
That's a fair question, and the answer depends on the piece. Everyday furniture can sometimes be replaced for less than it costs to ship. Heirlooms usually can't be replaced at all. Our free guide, how to ship furniture to family in another state, walks through how to decide, how to prepare each piece, and what to check at the delivery end. A personalized quote gives your family real numbers to decide with.
Choosing a furniture shipping company
When you compare furniture shipping companies, ask what's included in the quote, how fragile pieces will be packed or crated, how shipments to several addresses are handled, and who your main contact will be. Our guide on questions to ask before hiring an estate shipping company has a full checklist. We're happy to answer every one of them on the phone.
